Sometimes I'll comment on things that aren't really directly related to the cosmos.

So I watched Battle: Los Angeles the other day. If you haven't seen it, this isn't really a spoiler... Unless you would have been surprised to see that it is a movie about an alien invasion.

The reason given for the invasion is, of course, resources. But it's the resource in question that's hilarious to me - Water. Specifically liquid water. We all know that water is H2O, Hydrogen and Oxygen. Would you like to know what the top most abundant elements in our galaxy are?

You guessed it! Hydrogen and Oxygen are numbers 1 and 3. Helium is the second most, but that's irrelevant to this mini rant.

So, unknown alien race from some unknown area launches an intergalactic attack, but creating liquid water is just... too hard. Yeah, let's invade another planet instead.

Maybe they were looking for one of these...

  3. yea it is preety stupid. But we have the easiest access to it because we are in the goldilocks zone. Where water is liquid and not solid or gas. So it makes a bit of sense.

  5. Please don't mention Battle LA, it makes me feel old (22). It was the first movie I ever fell asleep during, because it was so boring.

Don't get me wrong, it might have had amazing special effects and a really good idea for the invasion, but everything else was abysmal.

  7. It's like how M.Night Shamalalama did with "signs". Couldn't the aliens see from afar that the earth is mostly water?
